This two-part presentation provides a solution to the coding problems that both developers and businesses confront. The OWASP Top 10 Proactive Controls 2018 list includes a variety of security measures that should be included in every software development project. Furthermore, this course focuses on best practices relevant to the development of highly secure and encrypted web, desktop, and mobile applications.

To whom this course will be useful?

As previously said, the goal of this lesson is to provide an in-depth look at coding approaches and security best practices for software development projects. This course is open to institutions or developers actively working on related projects.

Skills to be developed and Course Prerequisites

The sole prerequisite for this session is that students have basic to intermediate web programming skills. Knowledge of the foundations of application security would also be helpful. Learners will acquire additional skills, such as security verification, correct SQL injection, and password formulation during the course.

Course Content

• Controls 1- 5: This course goes through security controls, including checking security early and often, learning about  encoding data input, parameterizing SQL queries that can be interpreted as verifying data input, executable code, and finally learning about identity and authentication methods.
• Controls 6-10: The following five controls are discussed in the next section of the course. This lesson guides students through various topics such as access control implementation, intrusion detection, data protection, verification, and other best practices for handling exceptions.
