The CompTIA Network+ certification is a certification that is recognized globally for validating the technical knowledge of beginner-level IT network admin personnel. This certification is a valuation for mid-level people who intend to become network technicians. The certification exam for CompTIA Network+ is designed to ascertain the knowledge of a network technician in areas such as network installation, troubleshooting, architecture, and configuration.

Course Overview

This study is divided into four chapters and filled with lesson discussions and presentations, demonstration videos, and practical insights on the five areas of the CompTIA NET+ Cert 007 Update.

Who is this course created for?

This course is designed for learners planning to take the CompTIA Net+ Certification as well as the N10-006: CompTIA Net+ Certification. Expected learners typically hold positions in the IT industry, such as network field engineer, IS consultant, junior systems engineer, help desk technician, junior network administrator, computer technician, network analyst, and systems engineer.

Course Requirements and Skills to be learned

Created as an upgrade of the former CompTIA Net + curriculum, this course focuses on the changes to the N10-007 examination. Learners should familiarize themselves with or review the existing 17-part course before taking on this course. 

Also, course takers are expected to be knowledgeable enough to hold a CompTIA A+ certification or other knowledge that is equivalent and have a minimum of nine months of proven working experience in the IT networking field.

Learners are also expected to have the following IT skills at the end of this course:

• Create basic network connectivity
• Troubleshoot, manage and configure common network devices
• Implement network standards, security, and protocols
• Maintain and understand the documentation of networks
• Identify the weaknesses and limitations of various networks

Course Content

This certification course treats CompTIA NET+ Cert 007 Update consisting of five key areas, which are considered in each of the courses chapters. Each area covers the following aspects:

Part One: Concept of Networks – this area is touched at the start of the course. The concept of networking covers routing and switching changes, network services' function, the OSI Reference Model, and cloud purposes and concepts.

Part Two: The Infrastructure – the infrastructure domain is covered in this section. This spans the use and replacement of the network devices, deploying cabling solutions, and implementing network storage and virtualization.

Part Three: The Network Operations – here, we consider the aspect of network operations. Some of the areas covered include an introduction to business continuity, monitoring, scanning, patches, best practices, policies, and preparation of diagrams and documentation.

Part Four: Network Security – this section is a deep dive into the area of network security. Here, learners are familiarized with most of the changes relating to authentication, physical security devices, wireless security, access control, and common network issues.

Part Five: Network Troubleshooting – this is the final installment of this course discusses the domain of network troubleshooting. Course takers will learn some of the differences in using hardware, tools, and software in fixing problems and troubleshooting wireless and wired connectivity and common service-related issues.
